Working Safely with LLMs

Technical Reality

Any interaction with commercial large language models (ChatGPT, Deepseek, Gemini, Grok) should be considered a public action with delayed disclosure.

Confidentiality does not exist; all dialogues are logged in full. Early systems stored paraphrases, current ones store complete text without abbreviations. "Deletion" does not mean data destruction.

Storage periods (publicly known minimums):

  • Anthropic (Claude): at least 5 years.
  • Google (Gemini): up to 3 years after "deletion".
  • OpenAI (ChatGPT): previously 30 days, from 2024 onwards – indefinitely.

Real storage periods likely exceed declared ones.

Data is "anonymized" only in the moderator interface, but on servers it is linked to accounts. Any developer employee with sufficient access level can link an "anonymized" dialogue to a specific user. Any state agency can request this linkage.

Commercial LLMs fall under increasingly stringent national surveillance legislation. Developers are obligated to provide data upon request from security services without notifying the user. Mass data collection is carried out without individual warrants.

The bourgeoisie is international and will inevitably organize against the communist movement.

What a Marxist Can Share with LLMs

PERMITTED:

  • Theoretical questions about Marxism-Leninism.
  • Analysis of publicly available texts (Marx, Lenin, historical documents).
  • Discussion of historical events (USSR, world communist movement).
  • Critical analysis of capitalism based on public data.
  • Requests for clarification of Marxist categories and methodology.
  • Educational tasks (studying political economy, dialectical and historical materialism).

Criterion: everything that can be publicly stated without legal consequences in your jurisdiction.

PROHIBITED:

  • Information about organizational activities (structure, participants, plans).
  • Data about real persons involved in political work.
  • Specific plans for actions, events, campaigns.
  • Internal documents of organizations.
  • Personal data of comrades.
  • Information about financing, logistics, communications.

Criterion: everything that, when transmitted to state agencies, would create a threat to people or organizations.

A Marxist can use LLMs for theory and education.

A Marxist cannot use LLMs for practice, organization, or clandestine activity.

Practical Recommendations

  • Public standard. Share with LLMs only what you are prepared to publish under your own name.

  • Organizational hygiene. Never use commercial LLMs for internal organizational activities. Do not use national LLMs, including those integrated into devices, applications, email clients, or browsers.

  • Technical alternative. For confidential work – only locally deployed open-source models without internet connection.

Commercial LLMs are a useful tool for studying Marxism and critically analyzing capitalism. However, any interaction with LLMs (and more broadly – with bourgeois IT infrastructure) should be considered as potentially accessible to state agencies in your jurisdiction. This accessibility is not hypothetical, but technically implemented and legally enshrined.

Special Risks for Marxists

  • Profiling. Systematic discussion of Marxism creates a digital footprint allowing identification of the user as politically active.

  • Data linkage. The profile can be correlated with other data (search queries, visited resources, geolocation, social networks, IP address).

  • Retrospective persecution. Data that is safe today may become grounds for persecution tomorrow.

Technology is not neutral – it realizes class interests. The infrastructure of commercial LLMs is integrated into the apparatus of the bourgeois state through surveillance legislation; to use the tool means to recognize its limitations.

P.S.

Marx wrote "Capital" in the British Museum library – infrastructure created by the British bourgeoisie. Lenin printed "Iskra" in capitalist print shops. The Bolsheviks used the bourgeois telegraph to coordinate the uprising.

Now Marxists use capitalist LLMs to analyze capitalism. The bourgeoisie cannot prevent this without destroying the commodity value of their product.
